𝗗𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝟮 𝘅 𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗩𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗮 ?

All automatic Vespa’s from the early ET4 in 1998 have an immobiliser, this prevents the bike being started without “your” key.

Your Vespa ignition key has a chip inside which ensures only you can start your Vespa with your specific key. Even in the event someone was to cut a key, the chip inside adds another layer of security preventing the bike being started.

𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 – If you ever need a replacement key cut, you will also need to programme the chip inside the new key before the bike will start.

𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗸𝗲𝘆 + 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗞𝗲𝘆
All Vespa’s when sold are supplied with 2 x ignition keys, 1 x main key to use when riding + “Master key”.

The “𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗞𝗲𝘆” should be kept in a safe place and never used when riding. If you loose the “Master Key” you will be unable to programme any new key when cut.

𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯+ 𝗩𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗮 𝗚𝗧𝗦 𝟭𝟱𝟬 & 𝟯𝟬𝟬
“𝗞𝗘𝗬𝗟𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗙𝗢𝗕” – There is no provision to insert the key into the ignition like earlier models. The rider only needs to carry the “Keyless Fob” in their pocket when they wish to start the bike.

𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯+ 𝗩𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗮 𝗚𝗧𝗦 𝟭𝟱𝟬 & 𝟯𝟬𝟬
“𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗠𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗞𝗘𝗬” is a small plastic fob about the size of a 10 cent coin, this would be very easy to lose. We would highly recommend putting in a zip lock bag or add a lanyard and store in a safe place.

𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟴 – 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 𝗔𝘂𝘁𝗼 𝗩𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗮’𝘀 – 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗹𝗼𝘁
“𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗞𝗲𝘆”
The “Blue key” is your main key to use when riding. This will be inserted into the ignition to start the bike.

𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗞𝗲𝘆
This key should be kept in a safe place and never used when riding.

𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝘀
Regardless of your model, you really only have 1 x ignition key you should be using to start your Vespa. We recommend having a spare cut and programmed if needed.

’𝗞𝗲𝘆𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗯" 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀 – Note this is a specific Vespa key that can only be programmed by your dealer. To programme a new key you must have the “Master key” + Vespa with you when attending the dealer. If you are doing this prior to losing the main “Fob” take this key as well.
Cost for a new “FOB” key with programming expect to pay around $300.00

𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗹𝗼𝘁 (Red / Blue key) this will cost you around $50.00 for just a blank key. It will then need to be cut + programmed.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 – It is possible for you to programme the new cut key if you have the “RED” master key.
If you “Do Not” have the “RED” master key you will need to opt for the new key to be “Cloned”
this is where the locksmith will copy the chip code of your old key to your new key.
