We have all done it at some point, splashed fuel everywhere. There is nothing worse having fuel on the items stored under the seat.

𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐮𝐩.

𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐭
Remove the petrol cap. Now, lift the “rear” of your storage bucket, place your petrol cap under the back lip of the storage bucket, (𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐯𝐞)

Another option is to remove the bucket and turn sideways. Place it behind your lifted seat over the engine. 𝐁𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐬𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭.

𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐤
Do not pull the trigger all the way, this will lead to the fuel splashing due to the design of the Vespa fuel tank. Learn the estimated amount of fuel required based on the fuel gauge level.

𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐩
If you want to fill the tank to the maximum after the 1st click.
1 – Lift the pump nozzle up, close to the top of the fuel tank filler neck.
2 – Slowly squeeze the trigger, watch the fuel level at spout so not to overfill.
3 – Do not watch fuel bowser, this will not let you know when the tank is overfilling.

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬

𝐐: 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐟 𝐈 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞.
𝐀: There is no problem if you do, wash off with fresh water straight away.
Never use Hi-pressure water directly on the engine.

𝐐: 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐢 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫
𝐀: If you do have a big splash you can remove the carpet liner in the bottom of the storage bucket. This can be handwashed with warm soapy water and left out to dry. If you still have the smell of petrol spray with a deodoriser.
