We don’t set out to ride in the rain, but the weather can change without warning when you’re out for the day. If it does, you’ll be glad you’re prepared.

𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝗩𝗖𝗟 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗛𝗶 𝗩𝗶𝘀 “𝘄𝗲𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝗮𝗿” 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘀.

Being prepared for changing weather conditions can make all the difference in staying warm and dry.

Your “wet gear” isn’t just for rainy rides—it’s also ideal as an extra layer when you’re feeling the cold or facing windy conditions.

𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆
Being seen when riding is important, especially in bad weather. It is a VCL requirement that all Hi Vis vests and “wet gear jackets” be 𝗛𝗶 𝗩𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗼 𝘆𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸.

Hi Vis Yellow or Orange only – Must have silver reflective strips front and back.

1 – 𝗥𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗻
Always wear your riding jacket and pants when trying on wet-weather gear.
Since you’re fitting it over your existing riding jacket and pants, you’ll likely need a larger size than usual. For example, if your riding jacket is a medium, your Hi Vis vest and wet weather gear should typically be a large.

2 – 𝗪𝗲𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗷𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁
Look for elastic at the wrists and adjusters to tighten any loose areas once the jacket is on.

Make sure the sleeves are long enough when your arms are outstretched.

When seated, the jacket should cover your backside—the longer, the better for staying dry.

3 – 𝗪𝗲𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀
Look for a flared leg design so you can pull them on easily over your boots—no need to remove your shoes. Many styles include buttons or Velcro to tighten the flare once the pants are on.

Choose pants that sit high above the waist so your jacket overlaps when seated. This helps keep your lower back warm and dry—and avoids any unwanted exposure!

4 – 𝗛𝗜 𝗩𝗶𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 – Orange or yellow is the requirement, 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗡𝗢, so please ensure you are meeting what is required.

5 – 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽
All Hi Vis MUST have the silver reflective strip. Did you know the Silver reflective strip is what makes you really stand out, the reflection from headlights makes this a must on all your Hi Vis gear.

𝗛𝗶 𝗩𝗶𝘀 𝗩𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘀
Have your riding jacket on when trying on, look for a zipper on the front not velcro.
Zippers offer a more secure fit and wont come loose at higher speeds.
