Everyone’s safety is important. It is mandatory for all riders and pillions attending any VCL ride to carry a Hi-Vis vest and wet weather jacket and pants on all VCL Rides.

Wearing bright-coloured helmets, clothing, or even bike colour helps other riders and motorists see you more easily.

With so many manufacturers producing mostly black gear, having Hi-Vis coloured vests and wet weather gear ensures you are visible when it matters most.

⚠️ 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 ⚠️
Being seen when riding is important, especially in bad weather. It is a VCL requirement that all Hi Vis vests and “wet gear jackets” be 𝗛𝗶 𝗩𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗼 𝘆𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸.

Your “wet pants” must have reflective silver strips regardless of the colour. Yes, it’s ok if your wet pants are not Hi VIs but be smart and think safety over dark colours.

𝟏 – ⚠️ 𝐑𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐎𝐧 ⚠️

● Always try on a vest or wet weather gear over your riding jacket and pants.

● Ensure a loose, comfortable fit, the next size up is recommended. You need comfort over looking cool.


𝟐 – ⚠️ 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬 ⚠️

● Look for elastic wrists, and adjusters to tighten loose areas around waist, arms and shoulders.

● Hold your arms out straight, check the sleeves are long enough to cover your wrists.

● Ensure the jacket covers your lower back when seated.

● Pockets are essential—you can never have too many!


𝟑 – ⚠️ 𝐖𝐞𝐭 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 ⚠️

● Look for a flared leg, You don't want be removing your boots to put your pants on.

● Pants with button or Velcro at the ankles to tighten after fitting is ideal.

● Pants should sit high on the waist, and jackets should be long enough to keep your back covered.


𝟒 – ⚠️ 𝐇𝐢-𝐕𝐢𝐬 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 ⚠️

● Orange or yellow are the only accepted colours on any VCL ride.

● 🛑𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐊 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐍𝐎🛑 - You might think it looks cool, but it makes you invisible to motorists and fellow riders. Safety over your individual style should be your priority.


𝟓 – ⚠️ 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩 ⚠️

● Jackets: reflective strips on front and back.

● Pants: reflective strips around bottom and or sides of legs.

● Reflective strips improve visibility in low light, overcast conditions, or at night.
