No matter what, we ride to the pace of our slowest rider. Every rider was a beginner once โ€” some learn quickly, others take a little longer, and thatโ€™s perfectly okay.

VCL has always encouraged new riders to join us. We welcome anyone who wishes to ride, provided the ride is suitable for their current level of ability.

We also run dedicated ride days to offer one-on-one support, helping riders build confidence, skills, and get the most out of their riding journey.

โ— Head and eyes up โ€” scan constantly

โ— Check mirrors every 10-15 seconds, head check before lane changes

โ— Watch for potholes, driveways, pedestrians & animals

โ— Always check for red-light runners

โ— Maintain a minimum 3-second gap to the car / bike in front

โ— Avoid vehicle blind spots

โ— Read driver behaviour (mirror checks = lane change likely)

โ— Position yourself for visibility

โ— Start wide, slow in - Maintain same speed through the corner

โ— Slow in, fast out, once you see the straight

โ— Remember - The bike will go where your eye are looking.
Pay attention and look where you want to go.

โ— Front brake (Vespa - right lever) = main stopping power

โ— Emergency braking regularly

โ— Avoid grabbing brakes โ€” smooth inputs only

โ— Slow down early, increase following distance

โ— Brake and accelerate in straight lines

โ— Stay smooth with all inputs

โ— High Beam to be ON when attending all VCL Rides (day or night)
